Describe a typical day at work
Start checking monthly themes so that I know what is relevant and what listener wants. I pick the
right topic and make the research through internet, people and the experts. I talk to the expert who
are relevant to the topic and write the script before I go on air.
Best part of the job
Meeting different people and characters. Having fun with kids and elders.
Worst aspects of the job
When parents phone in children’s programmes, but knowing exactly that is not their time. Sometime when they pretend to be elders of which they are not.
Most memorable moment since getting your job?
My first day on air.
What do you enjoy about your job most of all?
Helping people who can not help themselves, being the voice of those who are voiceless. To connect them even though they are far from each other.
What personality traits/skills/qualification/attributes help a person to get a job like yours?
Firstly : You must have talking talent back it up with education.
Secondly: Start at the community radio so that you can see your weaknesses
and strengths (swot analysis).
Advice for people wanting to get into your industry…
Be yourself, be determined, be focused and know what you want for future. Last but not list first impression last.
Except radio, what else are you doing?
Work on my Gospel album, going to schools doing motivation learners. Teaching the elders to read and to write.
