SABC CREATES MORE VISIBILITY FOR SOLIDARITY FUND AMONG ALL CITIZENS
Johannesburg, Friday 24 April 2020 – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), is pleased to announce a partnership with Solidarity Fund in a strive to intensify participation of South African citizens in contributing to the Fund. This partnership is aimed at encouraging citizens to play their part in supporting the government’s efforts to assist vulnerable members of various communities whose livelihoods and welfare has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a public service broadcaster, the SABC remain committed to using its platforms to serve the needs of South Africans, especially during this difficult period. Therefore, collaborative efforts between the SABC and critical stakeholders in fighting the coronavirus pandemic are a priority for the Corporation.
The SABC’s partnership with Solidarity Fund is in line with its role as the primary carrier of important information to ensure that the millions of South Africans are provided with credible information regarding all stakeholders’ efforts to combat COVID-19.
In this regard, the SABC is committing to assist Solidarity Fund with; promoting the SMS line for the general public to use when sending their donations, record generic promo’s to be scheduled across all radio and television platforms for the duration of the campaign, interviews with Solidarity Fun representatives, live reads on radio, running Public Service Announcements (PSA) on radio and TV. This initiative will also be promoted on SABC digital platforms.
With this initiative, the SABC would like to reiterate the importance of the nation heeding the call in support of all efforts to deal with the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic in South African communities.
